Research Interests

My research interests focus mainly on the interactions between honeybee pathogens and pesticides. Involved in the national network project "FITBEE" which aims to understand the complex interactions between the individual bee, the bee colony, bee diseases and environmental parameters, I investigate the effects of honeybee's viruses, the gut parasite Nosema spp and hive treatment against the Varroa mites on the drifting behavior of honeybees. During my PhD I have also run experimental behavioral experiments to test the effects of neonicotinoids, pesticides widely used in crop protection, on honeybee social interactions.
