Research interests:

Studying host-parasite coevolution is in the main focus of my research. I use the system Apis mellifera and the honeybees’ gutparasite Nosema ssp. to investigate antagonistic adaptations within host and pathogen populations. A broad variety of techniques and methods are available in our labs. Behavioural studies, molecular analysis and population genetics are most useful to answer my questions.

In a broader sense I am interested in the fascinating mechanisms that drive evolution of social systems, mating biology of strongly sexual biased systems and as described before host-parasite interactions.

I am PhD student since 2010 and employed in the European Framework 7th research project BeeDoc (Bees in Europe and the Decline Of honeybee Colonies).
